17th July 2012 Daily Affirmation ♥

July 17, 2012

One thing we love to do is hold on to things that we cannot control. Even when we know we should be at a certain place, doing what you’re supposed to be doing and it doesn’t seem to be going the way we expected it to go, we hold on to what’s not working trying desperately to fix it and perfect it according to our own understanding. God on the other hand, controls everything. He allows the things that are not working not to work. He has the power to change anything at any time, and most of us would ask “then why not NOW?”. Why does God seem silent when we need him the most, at our hour of need? It has got absolutely nothing to do with God not wanting to do things immediately, but we must allow God to be who he is. He is God afterall.

The children of Israel were under enormous attack, for 400 years they lived as slaves, and in the moment of escape, they have the enemy right behind them. At that time many might have thought “Well lets all say goodbye now, it’s over, we’re dying”, but God parted the sea. He parted an entire sea. If God can part a sea for millions of people to go through and crash the walls while the enemy was going through, killing all of them, are you seriously saying that God can’t get you a job, or a good relationship, or cancel your debt, or give you peace and happiness? This is something we really need to ponder about today, and ask ourselves if we are not selfish to expect that God should always be answering to our problems only when he has a whole world to cater, and knowing full well that he will do it when the time is right. What do we do in the interim? Praise him. If he can part the sea for all those people, he will part the sea for you. Today, say to yourself “God will make a way where there’s no way”. Give God a chance to prove it to you, that he can do anything and more. When there is no way, it gives God an opportunity to show you his absolute mercy and love and it allows him to have the Glory that belongs to him. If you could fix it yourself then you would take the glory, but thank God you don’t have the power to do it and he does, and he will do it in a mighty way. Believe this to be true and enjoy Your Beautiful Day.

*** Psalm 77:16-20 “When the Red Sea saw you, O God, its waters looked and trembled! The sea quaked to its very depths. The clouds poured down their rain; the thunder rolled and crackled in the sky. Your arrows of lightning flashed. Your thunder roared from the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world! The earth trembled and shook. Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters—a pathway no one knew was there! You led your people along that road like a flock of sheep, with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.”
