7th January 2013 Daily Affirmation ♥
At the end of last year, one of the things I promised myself I would do is to develop an attitude of praise. I realized that it was one of the most inconsistent things in my life. Not that I didn’t praise God, but I didn’t make it a daily habit; a meaningful, time devoted practice that I know I need. There was something in my heart that needed to connect to God’s heart, and I soon discovered it was praise. Praise is what builds a sense of joy within us…the ability to be glad.
Each day we get is a day to live to the full. To enjoy each moment we have to embrace a new day, and to embrace everything about it. The fact that we woke up this morning is a clear sign, we still have something in us to express, and we can’t waste any of it. There’s a song we used to sing in Sunday school that I believe most of us adults need to revisit because it seems like we have forgotten, and the words are derived from an amazing psalm which says “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it“.
What does it mean to be glad? It means to celebrate, to be joyful, to be thankful and above all to praise. You can’t be glad and be silent about it. When you’re thankful about something you voice it out, you express it in one way or the other. Just as much as we would tell our friends and family how thankful we are to have them, the same goes for God. We need to show him our gladness, even the mere fact that we’re alive. My affirmation today is “I will be glad today“. Once we embrace that we’ve been given another day, we start to embrace praise because there’s always something to be glad about. Enjoy Your Beautiful Day.
